Lacey F. Canutt is a dancer, artist, and instructor dedicated to exploring movement as both a disciplined practice and a form of expression. With over 17 years of training, her foundation is rooted in classical ballet, complemented by contemporary and modern techniques that continue to shape her evolving artistic voice.
She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in dance and business at Belhaven University. She trained in person at the university for two years, immersing herself in ballet, pointe, modern, and performance, and will complete the remainder of her degree online. She has also joined Avant Chamber Ballet as a trainee for the 2026–2027 performance season. Her pre-professional experience with The Portland Ballet, along with her early training at Allegro Dance Studio, has cultivated a strong technical foundation and a deep appreciation for both classical repertoire and contemporary work.
As a performer, Lacey has danced a range of roles spanning classical and contemporary repertoire. Her credits include Nikiya in La Bayadère (Kingdom of the Shades), Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a soloist role in Paquita, and the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker. She has also performed works by choreographers including George Balanchine, John Clifford, Tom Gold, and established contemporary artists. Her performance experience reflects strong musicality, versatility, and a compelling stage presence.
In addition to performing, Lacey is passionate about teaching and sharing movement with others. As a dance and Pilates instructor, she emphasizes strength, alignment, and body awareness while fostering confidence and individuality in each student. She is committed to creating a supportive and engaging environment that encourages both technical growth and artistic exploration.
Through her work as a dancer, artist, and educator, Lacey approaches movement with discipline, curiosity, and authenticity, continually striving to grow and evolve in her craft.
